Long Beach Engagement
When I first met Melissa and Mason, I knew these two were meant for each other. After meeting in college and falling in love they moved back to Mason’s home state of Michigan. When Melissa told me they were going to be in Long Beach for their engagement dinner, Mike and I were excited to fly out and shoot their engagement pictures!
We started out in Long Beach on the beach and were going to head into Los Angeles for some downtown, more urban-styled pictures. As many of you know, with California traffic it’s always best to leave early. As we headed down the freeway and got onto the I-405 freeway on-ramp, an older gentleman had totaled his van, leaving both lanes of the freeway in a standstill!
With the sun setting quickly, I knew we were going to have to find somewhere close (and with good light) to finish their engagement session. As I looked over into the ditch my eyes lit up! “I know this is going to sound crazy, but what do you think about the ditch over there? The weeds are pretty and the light is AH-MAZING!!” They both agreed and we quickly jumped out of the car. (Mike stayed behind letting us know when the traffic was going to start moving again!) After taking a couple fun pictures on the actual I-405 Freeway itself, we headed down the side of the road and into the ditch. I’m pretty sure all of us prayed the weeds weren’t poisonous and that no critters would decide to pop out at us! With the rest of the freeway watching, Melissa and Mason ROCKED the rest of their engagement session! We had just enough time to climb back up the ditch and get back into the car before California Highway Patrol moved the man’s van and cleared up the freeway!
Mike and I are so excited for their Troon North Wedding, back here in Phoenix in the spring! Enjoy a few of my favorites from their session! xo
**Now this is where the behind the scene pictures come in handy 😉 **
Isn’t that light gorgeous!?!
But would you have ever guessed it would turn out like this?!?! Ahhh <3
