Weddings at The Windmill Winery have always been sentimental to me. I’ve met some of my favorite friends (aka #ACromerBride) there. Helena and Bryon were lucky enough to tie the knot this spring before COVID-19 spread in Phoenix, Arizona. Helena and Bryon met one night when they both decided to go to Culinary Dropout on a blind date! Almost two years later they took a trip to Europe and were in Amsterdam. While they were along the canals, Bryon asked a few ladies if they would take a picture for them. Helena smiled at the camera and the ladies started to freak out – as she turned to look at Bryon, he was down on one knee and proposed to her! Helena says her favorite part of her wedding day was walking down the aisle and seeing Bryon for the first time. (I can admit, it was a real tear-jerker!)
Helena and I have that #lonelyonly connection. For those of you who are new around here – we’re both only children. So it was essential for her to bring the memory of her Dad alive at her wedding. She and her Dad loved watching baseball, so her shoes represent that. (They also pull Bryon and her love of Disney into the mix by the writing on the bottom of her one foot…Toy Story anyone 😉) She had special charms and a picture attached to her gorgeous white bouquet, that had one pink tulip in it. As she walked herself down the aisle at the Windmill Winery, she took that pink tulip out of the bouquet and laid it on his chair, right next to his picture. We took pictures of her hand with her Mom’s holding onto her bouquet which showed their rings and his picture attached to it. The stone in the middle of Helena’s wedding ring actually came from her mom’s wedding ring!
Her Dad loved music so the seating chart was made out of old records! The music that was played during the reception was some of his all-time favorites. And my personal favorite part (again, I teared up) was when she introduced her Dad’s BEST friends. You see, they used to have their own band in the garage! And let me tell you – the performance they put on during the reception DID NOT disappoint! (Just wait until you see their instruments!)
I do have to say Bryon and Helena had an amazing wedding at Windmill Winery. Watching Bryon light up when she walked down the aisle, and her crack up at him made it so evident that the love they share is so unique and so special. Helena and Bryon, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day and for letting me capture all the fun along the way! Until next year in Disney 😉 enjoy a few of my favorites from their day! xo
