One of my favorite things about being a Phoenix Wedding Photographer is getting to know my couples and how they met.  Brad and Tricia both worked for the City of Peoria.  Tricia had been assigned to work at a school that Brad already worked at.  When she walked in the door for her first shift he turned to one of their coworkers and said “Who’s that, I’m going to marry her one day!”

They had been dating for about three years and they both knew they wanted to get married.  However, Tricia was just waiting for Brad to ask.  Her brother had invited them on a trip to New York City during springtime.  She didn’t think anything of it.  They had had an amazing trip!  They had just had brunch on the most beautiful rooftop spot with a few of her friends who lived in the city,  and they had planned to take cute pictures in Central Park afterward,  so they had all dressed up!

Tricia said,  “As we were walking around Brad asked if we could take a picture in front of the most beautiful cherry blossom tree and before I knew it he was on one knee proposing!  Little did I know how much planning went into it all!  He had planned this with all my family and friends around the country and had my brother live stream the whole thing so everyone could be with us!  It was so special!”

After getting engaged they jumped headfirst into planning their wedding.  They scheduled the wedding to be about ten months after their engagement.  She says, “It all went pretty smoothly, honestly but the time flew by!   Then five days before our wedding was supposed to be we got a phone call that the venue had to cancel our wedding due to COVID-19.  Our hearts were broken. We had already had friends come in from out of town and our flowers had been delivered.  It was tough.  But honestly, now looking back we have gotten extra time to grow even deeper in love.  I’ve learned how much our love truly means to me.  And how our love is not defined by a wedding.”

Thankfully, they were able to reschedule their wedding for later this year, and we cannot wait to celebrate with them at The Kiva Club!   Enjoy a few of my favorites from their engagement session! xo
