A Winter Cave Creek Engagement Session
Karla and Kevin met at Arizona State University while finishing their undergrad. Like a lot of college students, they were both in the pre-vet club. The first time Karla met Kevin, she was paying him her club dues! The two quickly became an item and moved to Denver to finish up their Veterinary schooling.
While on vacation in the Dominican Republic, Kevin planned a romantic dinner out on a private pier. He had to explain his elaborate plans in Spanish, which he’s not fluent in, to all the staff at our resort. Kevin was able to get a photographer to come over from a private island to photograph the entire proposal! He also had their room decorated with rose petals and candles. They ended up spelling out “do you marry me”….part of the language barrier that they still laugh about it to this day!
Arizona is a far cry from the Dominican Republic, but no one could deny the weather we’ve been having this winter! 80 degrees with a light breeze = one happy photographer! Kevin and Karla both share a love for animals, so it made perfect sense to bring Chanel – their sweet fur baby, along for pictures! During the first few minutes on our walk, Chanel picked up a jumping cactus on her nose! But thankfully Karla brought a kit with her and was able to get most of the cactus out.
When our couples want to bring their pets along for pictures, we always love having the company! It’s always best to bring a friend or family member to help watch them when they’re not in the pictures. And also in case a pack of coyotes decides to start barking all around you! That totally happened during our session! We made it out safely and Chanel didn’t pick up anymore cactus! Enjoy a few of my favorites from their winter Cave Creek Engagement! xo
